This is my first post here so bear with the newbieness.  I've been racing NR2003 over a year and a half now and have found the SBP the creme dela creme of the crop as far as tracks go.

I just did a nice test race with the Volk setup lasting 56 laps. I started from the rear of a 33 car field as I always do when testing an unfamiliar set up. I was at 95% ai because as I said earlier still a newbie. Temp was the standard 70. I was using a 2007 roster and car set within the Speedway.net COT mod. As part of the run, I noticed the front spoiler dipping and disappearing into the track.

Is this a track issue or just their mod?

I noticed in the first 10 laps there was plenty of side by side racing in the back of the pack and because the set up is so fast, I could have run them over, but this slowdownI enjoyed as its a part of racing...adjusting to whats in front of you. After the first 10, several of the rear field cars 'came back to me' as their speed dropped. Nice I thought, this is playing out like reality. About 1/2 way through the run I was really making up time on the mid pack ai...it seemed almost too fast especially on the back stretch. I'm not sure if this was just the set up playing out versus a 95% ai or something to do with the track.ini.  In the mean time there was some bumping of the car in front in particular heading into 3 and at times out of 4.

Was this bad ai because they were slowing down? I have no idea as I'm not a  track.ini modder. Have I seen this before while watching TV on the big screen? Hell yeah!  Another late race mishap without a yellow I thought would ruin the run, but the set up allowed me to regain control.
With 20 to go, the fuel run ended and I dove it into the pits. 50% wear on the RF and nearly that on the rest. Again, a great set up for the track.
Was it the 95%ai? I have no idea...does that AI % impact the handling of the player car on the track or just the AI cars? I don't know. I over shot my stall and came out of the pits in 11th.

I was able to race back with some rubbin' and fender bumpin to the top 5 with 5 left. The leaders were heading into some lappers and this allowed me to catch up to them. With 1 to go, I dove into 1 and went to the middle lane 3 wide with a lapper sitting in the middle lane  J. Gordon on the outside and R. Gordon on the inside. (Don't ask me how or why R.G. was running second. Must be an old driver stat??) After I split the two, the car stuck and I was able to pull out of turn 2 with the lead and keep it as they ended up fighting with a lapped car. Overall it was a great race on a great track Thank's Jrock for the work and I can't wait to try the others.

BTW, I was running the race using the G-25 wheel coupled to a limited edition Tony Stewart Playseat, through a 3 monitor set up using Matrox's triplehead2go. If your not using this triple head while sim racing, you are missing out on a truly immersion based racing experience. No more 'guestimating' where the wall is or what is coming up on your inside. The replay is a sight to behold considering the age of this sim and the excellent work you do. This was the first track and race that I watched my entire replay. Simply beautiful.

That phenom usually ends up being the Mod itself that causes that...the Player car sits a lil lower than all the other cars...

That would be no...the Oppenent Strength % only affects the AI...not the Player

You mentioned you were using the default 2007 Roster from the SS.net car set....that is usually the same result that everyone gets using that set... Laughing ...surprised it wasn't Sterling Marlin.... Laughing

LOL, welcome to the community there swingdangler.  For a self called "newbie", you seem to have it together.  Thanks for the story.  Offered some pleasant reading and brought back some memories.  And yes, J does a superb job on his tracks.
